It’s a lost place in the middle of nowhere. I’m surrounded by dozen of square kilometers black sand. Just a wide black nothing, comparable with a cold desert. Unhindered, my sight makes its way over the billions of little black stones. It’s so quiet, it nearly scares me. And then the silence breaks – a plan wreck disturbs the nothingness. Destroyed, demolished, eviscerated like a big metallic bird it lays calm on the sand. When a squall hits the wreck it rattles and groans. A last sign of a new life. A last sign of an old death.
It’s an unreal scenery, so surrealistic that it’s hard to believe. More than forty years have passed since the rotors spun the last time, forty years since the engine droned a final goodbye. Solitude fulfills me. Places like this always carry some kind of fascination and also melancholy. Human mankind has forgotten this plane, they just left it there to spend it’s days until it’ll be gone forever – decomposed and disintegrated by mother nature.
But it also carries some beauty, the hidden bloom of an old lady. The black sand, the sea in visible distance – this place looks like it was meant to be the stage for an obscure drama. The life of a woman, expelled by society to live her life as an outsider, to recap all those highs and lows.
I was already so fascinated by that place before we traveled to Iceland. I knew that I had to get there somehow and I also wanted to shoot an editorial at this lost wreck so bad. For this special location I was thinking about a look which refers to the setting. This is the reason why I decided to go for that cognac colored leather jacket by H&M, which reminds me of pilots from the early year of aeronautics. I combined my jacket with a thin white turtleneck and some yellow tinted glasses by & Other Stories which also should underline the aesthetics of that whole place. For the bottom I decided to wear a simple pair of black suede leggings and some tough boots (which I mostly wore during that whole adventurous vacation). It’s one of the few looks when I didn’t wore a bag, but the way to the wreck was quite long and I already carried so much stuff with me that I decided to leave this look as plain as it is.

Was für ein magischer Ort – ich hätte wahrscheinlich auch erstmal ein wenig Schiss gehabt, weil ich finde man kann so herrlich seine Fantasie spielen lassen an solchen Plätzen.
Sollte ich jemals nach Island kommen, werde ich den Weg aber definitiv auf mich nehmen.
Die Fotos sind einfach wahnsinnig toll geworden, auch ohne Tasche , die Ja 😉 die Jacke ist schon Hingucker genug. Die Farbe passt perfekt ist das ganze Bild.
