The Black Dress

“You can wear black at any time. You can wear it at any age. You may wear it for almost any occasion; a ‘little black frock’ is essential to a woman’s wardrobe.”

– Christian Dior

Black is such a strong and special color. And as Monsieur Christian Dior said you can wear it like…forever. Some people even build their whole wardrobe around it and they never get bored of it. Although my wardrobe contains many different colors and patterns, I still think that black is the most common.

The little black dress might be the most popular dress type in fashion history.

The color black was reserved for widows to express their grief. And it was scandalous when the first (still) married woman began to wear black – the color then questioned the whole marriage. Tolstoy for example dressed Anna Karenina in black when she met count Wronskij at the ball (and we all know how the story goes 😉 ).

But it took a few more years until the petite robe noire became en vogue through the  wonderful creations of Madame Coco Chanel and stayed like this until today.

So when I saw that black dress by Edited, I truly couldn’t help myself and felt in love with the design so quickly. The big white buttons and wonderful neckline made it become to one of my favorite dresses right now.

I combined my recent catch with the little Jacquemus Praia and heels by H&M.

A little fun fact about the photo shoot: The images were shot in Iceland during the early morning hours. I nearly froze to death (although the sun was shining) but I loved this old pier so much that I really wanted to shoot the look there.

Are you into the color black? What are the things you have already done for the perfect picture?

Lots of love,
